Shopping for fall sleepwear

I love it when the weather turns a little colder and all the cute, cozy, fall sleepwear catalogs start finding their way to my doorstep.  I got a big stack of them the other day and as I was sorting through them, my eye couldn’t help but catch one in particular — Cuddledown of Maine.  Their sleepwear amazed me.  It delighted me.  And it inspired me to ask Bill to photoshop  my head on a bunch of their nightgowns.

Here are some of my favorites —

This one really impressed me.  Did Cuddledown go back in time and sort through my grandmother’s closet?  The only thing missing here are the glasses dangling around my neck and a word jumble puzzle.

Remember those children’s pajamas called, Garanimals?  I think this must be Cuddledown’s version of them for adults.  I’m not sure what material this was made out of, but it just looks itchy.  And the banded arms and legs?  I’m guessing it traps the heat in so well that at some point in the middle of the night you wake up in a pool of sweat assuming you’re close to death.

It’s too bad I didn’t have this little nightgown on my honeymoon, you know, in case I didn’t want to have sex at all.

This zip up outfit is for post-bath.  I don’t know about you, but I love really long zippers that cling to the entire length of my damp, naked body right after I get out of the shower.

And finally, this, uh, robe?  I call this, “The Teal Tornado”.  I guess this robe would be nice to have around in case I had a really long illness.  Plus, I could store needles in the pockets so if I caught a glimpse of myself in a mirror I could gouge my eyes out.

I’m going to have to keep looking for fall sleepwear that I’d actually wear.  If I find anything I love, or love to make fun of, I’ll let you know.

And I’m sorry, Cuddledown.  But you brought this on yourself.

This post was so funny, I had to come back again today and read it again! My best pair of cold weather pj’s? Flannel-lined silk. (Officially called brushed-back satin.)

Thank you for the laugh – I really needed one today!

  • Katy says:

haha I think your missing the silk pajamas ;)

LOL. Hard to believe those styles are still sold. But I really can’t point fingers because I sleep in rags…rags, I tell you! I live in So. Florida and like to sleep year-round in a short set with a short-sleeve top (not sleeveless, no lace or scratchy stuff, pj makers!). It’s once in a blue moon that I can actually find sleepwear I like. In the meantime, my two sets of favorite pjs are threadbare and nearly see-through…not really the look I’m going for as I make lunches for the kiddos in the morning!

You know, I sleep in the ugliest things ever! So I guess I shouldn’t make fun either. I sleep in really unflattering sweats and ancient t-shirts… I aspire to have cute sleepwear but it never seems to work out.
